In the town of Derik (Al-Malikiyah) in northeastern Syria, part of the Hasakah Governorate where breathtaking nature meets ancient history—many remarkable figures have emerged, leaving their mark on the fields of education and social service. They enriched the lives of others with sincerity and devotion.

Among these figures stands the distinguished educator, Mr. Mustafa Malla Sabri, whose life embodied commitment to teaching and noble human values. He became an example of a man who combined educational responsibility with community service, leaving an enduring imprint on every institution he served and in the hearts of every student and colleague who knew him.

Mustafa Malla Sabri was born in 1957 in the village of Qara Sur Hasso in rural Derik, into a religious and patriotic family. His father, a respected religious and national figure, had an honorable history of defending truth and dignity.

From an early age, he instilled in his son a love for the homeland, for people, and for moral and social values. Even as a child, Mustafa showed a keen interest in knowledge and reading, marked by good manners and a calm Temperament qualities that remained with him throughout his life.

Mustafa began his primary education in the village of Qara Sur, where he quickly showed a natural inclination toward learning and excellence. His teachers observed his distinguished behavior, discipline, and intellectual abilities.

He later continued his intermediate and secondary studies at Yusuf al-Azma School in Derik, graduating in 1977. During those years, Mustafa was not only an academically outstanding student but also a model of ethics and dedication. He was respected and admired by his peers, exerting a positive influence on his school environment from a young age.

After graduation, Mustafa began serving his community through the teaching profession. In 1980, he was appointed as a teacher at Tel Khenzir School.

His role was not limited to teaching academic subjects he was always keen on guiding students toward proper conduct and instilling the values of respect and cooperation among them. In 1981, he transferred to Tepki School, and the following year to Gindik School, where he continued to embody the ideal teacher, balancing academic instruction with moral guidance.

In 1983, Mustafa joined Khana Sari School, where he quickly earned the respect of everyone around him. That same year, he became the school’s principal, a position he held until 1985.

After completing his military service, he returned to work at Rifaat al-Haj Sari School, serving as secretary and assistant principal until 2006. During this period, he exemplified integrity, dedication, and strong leadership combining efficient administration with excellent interpersonal relations.

He was committed to applying educational and ethical values in every circumstance, earning the appreciation of all and the loyalty of both colleagues and students.

When the Martyr Ismail Hassan School was established, he was assigned as its principal, a position he held until 2015, when he resigned in preparation for migration and resettlement in Europe.

Throughout these years, Mr. Mustafa proved himself to be the embodiment of the ideal educator surrounded by respect and affection from colleagues and students alike. His personality was marked by calmness, wisdom, honesty, and a steadfast commitment to high moral values. He was beloved in both educational and administrative circles and earned widespread admiration for his perseverance and dignified conduct.

His contributions were not limited to education; he also played an active role in public service. He was nominated for and successfully elected to the Derik City Council for three consecutive terms, from 1999 to 2011, during which he served as a member of the Executive Office.

In these roles, he demonstrated leadership and excellence in serving his community. He was known as a clean, dedicated public servant who devoted his time and energy to uplifting his town, always ready to help relatives, friends, and colleagues with sincerity and generosity.

Despite his achievements, circumstances eventually compelled him to leave his homeland and migrate to Europa just as many educational and public-service professionals from Derik had before him.

Yet his positive impact remains deeply preserved in the hearts of all who knew him, and his hometown will not forget his contributions to its educational, administrative, and social life.

My esteemed teacher Mustafa, every time I recall your days in Derik, I feel pride and gratitude for having a figure like you among us. You were an example of calmness and dignity, of honesty and generosity, of tireless dedication in every field you entered.

May your memory and your acts of giving remain alive within us always. May God grant you lasting health and well beging you were and will remain a role model for all generations to come.
